I have this feed in my blog aggregator for this awesome site that puts up astronomy pictures every day. Yesterday’s picture was just freaking amazing:
It doesn’t look like much in this thumbnail, but you should check out the full sized picture! Jupiter is just huge! And amazing! Did you know that more than two earths could fit inside of that white spot midway between the southern pole and the equator? (It’s actually red in normal lighting, but this shot was infrared) Or that Jupiter almost became a star when our solar system was forming? What’s really crazy to me is to think that we’ve found Jupiter sized gas giant planets orbiting stars as close as Mercury orbits our own! There is just so much cool stuff out there in the universe, it’s awesome! Truly awesome!
